Lycée International Bel Air has presented its first charity book, titled A Garden of Verses, an educational and artistic project created by the 5th grade students, with the aim of raising funds for childhood cancer research at the Sant Joan de Déu Children’s Hospital.
A project born from the heart of the classroom
The initiative originated with Pilar Jimenez, a Spanish teacher, who encouraged her students to express themselves through poetry. Over several months, the students wrote texts full of emotion, sensitivity, and hope, shaping a collective work of great human value.
The poems were later illustrated with engravings created in the school’s art workshops, under the guidance of Jennifer, Patrick, and Julie Gille, who helped the students channel their creativity through visual language.
The book cover was designed by Jennifer Baune, while the interior illustrations and back cover were created by Valérie, the school’s principal, who brought a personal and emotional touch to this very special edition.
Art, education, and solidarity: a life lesson
A Garden of Verses has been not only an opportunity to develop literary and artistic skills, but also a transformative experience for the students, who have learned the value of social commitment and empathy.
Lycée International Bel Air is proud of this work that combines talent, effort, and solidarity, and hopes that the book will serve not only to raise funds but also to raise awareness of the importance of supporting childhood cancer research.
