EPIC has been present at EdTech Congress BCN 2025, a space for debate and reflection on how technology is transforming education. This edition placed special emphasis on the impact of artificial intelligence, educational assessment, and digital skills.
Among the most notable talks, Carme Artigas’ conference positioned AI as one of the greatest challenges of our time, highlighting both its opportunities—such as learning adaptation and personalization—and its risks, including privacy concerns and algorithmic biases.
The role of educational assessment was another key topic at the congress. Lucas Gortazar analyzed different models of external assessment at the international level and reflected on how Spain can move towards a more flexible and useful system for schools and teachers. The importance of technology as a tool to improve real-time assessment and adapt it to students’ needs was emphasized.
Another key debate was the use of technology in classrooms. Speakers such as Fernando Trujillo and Neil Selwyn stressed the need to integrate technology with a strong pedagogical foundation, avoiding the mistake of simply digitizing materials without a clear strategy.
Finally, the congress hosted the presentation of the Students’ Manifesto of EdTech Congress 2025, a document that gathers students’ concerns regarding the digitalization of education and advocates for a more participatory and inclusive model.
